2001- 2003 CEIRP Fellow
Department:
Civil and Environmental Engineering
I
am a Ph.D. student in the environmental section of civil
engineering. Before coming to Cornell I worked in the geology
department at the College of William & Mary where I was
part of a research team investigating the geologic history
of Jamestown Island. While there I worked with high school,
college and adult (elderhostel) students. For my MS degree
I performed experiments and developed a model to describe
sediment transport in estuaries. My current research is focused
on using substances naturally produced by bacteria to improve
metal removal from contaminated soils. In addition to my
previous and current research topics I am interested in a
wide range of subjects including risk determination, risk
communication, microbiology, toxicology and soil science.
